Oceanides motivates me for three main reasons: first, I am fascinated and impressed by the vastness of the research lead by Christian Buchet: it is intellectually very challenging, notably because of its international dimension.
Then, it is an open and inclusive project of diverse families of people who love the sea and their specialists as evidenced by the high level and opening of the Honorary Committee chaired by Claudie Haigneré.
Finally, the current globalization makes it more necessary than ever to take a better account of the maritime issues, on a geopolitical, economic and ecological level, as the companies and institutions that back us perfectly know.
Our essential ambition is to make people largely share these challenges and opportunities for development by the sea, relying on the convincing perspective that the plans for the maritime history of Oceanides means to bring.
